Speaking of this week, I've learned so much, yet I've thoroughly enjoyed it. It's been both frustrating and fulfilling - perhaps that's just the what feel like of learning!
I followed the tutorials and created many materials, but it wasn't until I applied them to the house that I realized they didn't give off the vibe I was looking for. Some textures appeared too dense or too large, and I learned how to edit them in the Unreal Engine's Material Editor using nodes. Also, I found out I could switch to modeling mode and use UV transfer to alter the size and rotation of the textures, a step that had me stumped for two days! In the end, I learned how to do it — but the materials still weren't what I wanted.

This is too modern? It feels more like someone's home, not like a shop.

I actually tried various materials and even downloaded some available ones from the internet, just trying to capture that certain feeling. Eventually, I realized that the overall color tone of the house didn't convey the warm, mysterious bookstore vibe I was aiming for. So, I learned how to adjust the saturation, brightness, and other properties of materials in the Material Editor, though I still don't fully understand how these adjustments work. I was mostly following tutorials I could find and tweaking the values. In the end, after changing the colors, I discovered that this was exactly the feel I wanted!

As soon as it was installed, I knew it was the one.(Besides the walls, I also made several changes to the roof.)
And I also learned how to use two materials on a single object. For the other parts, I decided to go with a dark wood grain, which gives it a medieval feel.
